About the holes: Use a one-pour soy wax that won’t shrink. Make sure you adhere to melting and pouring temps for the specific wax you’re using. Don’t cool your candles too quickly and don’t pour them into really cold containers.

About the scent: Not all fragrances are heavily scented. Some are lighter than others and may not make good candidates for candles. You don’t say what type of wax (brand) you are using and what your FO percentage was.

Candles must cure for several weeks before burning them to give the FO time to bond with the wax. Also, soy wax isn’t all that great for hot scent throw. Palm wax is better.

Even though you follow directions, these are only general directions. your equipment may be slightly different than that used be the ones who wrote the directions.
Temperature is very important over heating will "kill" the scent. Over or under heating can cause bubbles.
each batch you make, unless you weigh ingredients may be slightly different so a thermometer is extremely important.
As you gain experience, you will notice different methods and tips for a well done final product.
Scents usually lower the melting point.
    Colorants usually raise it
