The Easy Way to Making Candles

Christmas is just around the corner, and it’s time to dust off your Christmas decors and plan how you will be brightening up your home for the Holiday season. Christmas trees, Christmas balls, Santa Claus and Rudolf figurines, crystal balls and snow ball are all perfect decors to “feel” the spirit of Christmas.

Another addition to your Christmas home collection are home-made candles. Candles are relatively easy and cheap to make. Candle-making has evolved from being a source of illumination one’s homes, to being a hobby which can be enjoyed by people from different age groups, such as children, teenagers and the elderly. Candle-making has become an expressive form of art. One can create them in different shapes, sizes, forms, colors, scents and other designs. It can be decorated with ribbons, glitters, paper cut outs, sand, and other collage materials. It can also be dressed up by using a fancy bottle container. In fact, some people have made candle-making either a primary or secondary source of income for themselves. Over the years, the demand for organic, home made candles is rising, in both retail and online stores. And more and more people are making it a work-at-home opportunity.

When making home made candles, it is best to use organic candles which from plant and other “green” by products such as beeswax, soy or palm. Switching to organic products brings with health benefits. Ordinary candles are often made from paraffin, and unknown to many, paraffin come from diesel by products, akin to the chemicals used for gasoline and tire-making. The soot it causes when the candle is lit can harm one’s lung functioning and also pollutes the environment with carbon emissions. Organic candles contains none of these negative effects. In fact, organic candles are often scented with aromatherapy essential oils, which are often used for aromatherapy sessions while bathing, massaging or simply sleeping in your bedroom.

Candles such as organic beeswax candles, are made from natural by-products of honey. Beeswax candles are a natural alternative to paraffin made candles, and it does not pollute the air as much. It also has a longer shelf-life and brighter flames compared to cheap, ordinary candles. Beeswax candles can be added with aromatherapy essential oils for a much pleasant olfactory experience. Organic candles not only brighten up a room, but it also improves the ambiance by creating a warm, cozy and relaxing atmosphere, good for the body and the mind.
