Is There Such A Thing As Sootless Candles?
Question:
True or false? There are certain candles that do NOT create soot (carbon) when burned that can dirty walls? Quote from an area candle maker: “They do not give off soot. They burn clean. I think all candles give off some carbon because you are burning wax. My candles are clean burning and will not make your walls black like petroleum candles.”
Answer:
ANYTHING that burns will release carbon, but candles made from palm or soy wax release considerably less of it. Paraffin wax is a petroleum product and those candles are the notorious smokers. But even with soy or palm wax candles, you still have a wick and fragrance oil that will release soot.
