I agree with @Sylvia H. I got a $5 candle jar warmer at Walmart. I bought it to use with candle melts/tarts. However, I soon discovered that candles actually smell better on the warmer than burning them. They release more scent into the air.
Pro: A warmer will release the fragrance of the scented wax without the flame.
Con: No flame means no ambient/romantic lighting.
They cause a lot of house fires, especially because people tend to forget about them and leave them burning.
Keeping them away from any curtains or anything else that could possibly burn is always a good idea. Putting them inside of glass or other candle holders also helps to keep it contained.
Make sure you trim the wick to 1/4 of an inch before you light it so the flame isn’t too large.
Like another poster said, tealights in holders are usually a safer option.
Present all your research to your mom and I’m sure she’ll see you’re responsible and growing up and she’ll let it go.
Ehh…if you’re over 13, you should be able to light it..but that’s my opinion.
See if she will let you get a candle warmer..it looks like a hot plate to keep a coffee cup warm, but you put a jar candle on it and it heats it and melts it, so no fire.
They let you have them in most dorms, so they cant be that unsafe. And i think they make the smell radiate more.
Buy them at wal-mart, craft stores, dollar general, etc.–usually $4-$6
ASOLUTELY – Ask anyone who has lost a home due to an unattended candle. As much as we think we won’t leave a candle unattended – it happens. There is one "safer" candle and I believe you can buy it through "Candlelite". If the candle gets accidentially tipped over (wind, animals, children) the candle will snuff itself out. However, the safest candle is the one that is not lit.
