Can I use embroidery thread for candle wicks?

Quesion: Hi, Im going to make some candles out of crayons. i have some questions.
1. can I melt the crayons in a pot on the stove?
2. i dont have any wicks. can i replace them with embroidery thread? or anything else? thanks.

Answer:

1)  NO!!!!!  You cannot use crayons for candles.  Crayon wax is not candle wax.  Just because it’s “wax” does not mean you can use it for candles.  It’s the wrong kind of wax.  You’ll get smoking and soot and they’ll smell horrible from the burning color pigments.

2)  NO!!!!!  You cannot use embroidery thread for wicks.  Something as simple as candle wicks are highly engineered according to type of wax and diameter of the candle.  Different waxes require different wicks.  Larger diameter candles require thicker wicks.
