Soy Scented Candles: Superior Scented Candles
A home decor item, aromatherapy or just to help you unwind, scented candles are a growing feature of our everyday lives. I see this more than most as I own a scented candle company and can track the growing trend in sales. I guess a lot has to do with our homes. we all generate cooking smells, pet odours and some even have tobacco odours to contend with. A quality scented candle can help make the places we live a more pleasant, relaxing and fun place to be.
The range of fragrances available today is baffling. This choice however is a very personal. For instance I love Vanilla scents, my wife can’t stand them. We both love fruit scents such as Lime Cooler and Fruit Cocktail. Some prefermore unusual candle scents. These are also becoming very popular such as baby powder, fresh coffee and even tomato!
More exotic scented candles are becoming more and more popular. These include fresh coffee, fresh bread and cinnamon scents. The unusual is also making inroads. scents like tomato vine and green tea & lemon-grass now have a definite following. Of particular note are the candles produced with gimmick fragrances. White castle recently launched a hamburger scented candle. Has the world gone mad!
Candles that change scent as they burn are also great sellers. We market a triple scented Jumbo candle that has three fragrances in one jar. As this burns, the fragrances change and blend. This one is very special indeed.
Thats all great but why Soy Scented Candles?
Scented candles are also made from a variety of waxes. Which do I go for? My choice of scented candle is one made from soy wax. Soy wax is made from soy beans that are crushed and the resulting oil made into a solid wax in a process similar to that used in making margarine. Why soy wax? Soy wax is natural, sustainable and makes the most wonderful scented candles. It burns well, lasts longer than paraffin (around 30-50% longer) and the resulting candles burns flat in a glass container. No fuss.
The Benefits of Soy Wax Scented Candles can be summarised as follows; * Plant based wax which is totally sustainable * Burns very well and flat in glass containers (no tunnelling in the centre) * Usually made by small companies that care passionately about their products.
Indulge in a scented candle for your home. The beautiful light, fragrance and atmosphere is hard to beat and you can rest assured that you are being environmentally sound in using Soy Wax Scented Candles.

Cleaning And Caring For Gemstone Candle Holders
Gemstone refers to a variety of semi-precious rocks or minerals, which can be used for decorative or ornamental purposes. They are usually characterized by vibrant colors, unique formations, and sometimes by the extremely polished nature of the surface. There are a wide variety of materials that are termed gemstone, and often the actual classification of what can or can not be called such is a little fuzzy. The basic requisite is attractiveness of features.
When it comes to candle holders, almost any type of gemstone can and will be used. Generally the material is taken raw, and drilled with a candle hole. Other times the material is polished or refined in some way, and then fitted with a candle cup.
The idea is that the flickering light of the candle reflects off the multifaceted face of the material, creating an interplay which can be quite lovely. Often this effect will be enhanced, if the stone is clear, or translucent, allowing the light to penetrate its surface and causing the entire piece to glow.
When cleaning a gemstone candle holder, it is important to be careful, and understand the nature of the material, in order to avoid ruining it by using the wring cleaning agent.
Some gemstone materials may discolor when they come in contact with harsh acidic soaps. If you do use soap, make certain that it is very mild, and dilute it heavily with water. Using a non acidic cleansing agent would work even better.
In general the safest method for cleaning a gemstone candle holder is to just use a damp cloth to wipe away any excess dust that may settle on the piece. If wax gets stuck to the gemstone, you can try running the piece under warm water to loosen it. Be careful not to soak any backing material too much or it may come loose.
You have to be especially careful of clear gemstone pieces, as they can become clouded when they come in contact with certain agents. Depending on the porosity of the material, certain liquids may enter these stones, causing them to stain. Again, the safest route is generally to just use warm water.
In general gemstone candle holders should not need much maintenance. If you just dust them off every once in a while, and are careful to keep their surfaces clear of dripping wax, they will generally continue to look like new virtually forever.

How To Create Ambiance With Candles
With our modern, busy lives, it is all too easy to treat your home like a hotel. Many individuals spend less than five waking hours a day in their home and, regrettably, it often shows too. Many people’s homes have reverted to ‘cold’ houses where you store your stuff, do your laundry and sleep. In other words they lack warmth and personality.
However, warmth and personality can certainly be restored or created in a home by spending some time in it and imparting some of your self into your surroundings. One of the simplest ways of doing this is by the use of candles and beautiful candle holders. Candles will add plenty of warmth and personality to your home and make you want to spend more time there.
The bedroom is a good place to start. Whether you would like your bedroom to be a place of romance or of sanctuary, candles will help. A candelabrum on a table top always looks good, but so will little tea lights on the dresser. Small floating candles in the shape of water lilies or other flowers look fantastic in a bowl of water too.
Most people only squeeze in a shower or two a day, but it is very soothing to soak in a bath of hot water. You can make your soak in the bath even more tranquil and atmospheric by combining tall and short candles such as pillar, votive and tea light candles placed on tiling around the room.
You can utilize candles in the kitchen for different reasons. Aromatic candles will hide the smell of foods like cabbage and other foodstuffs. Night candles will keep the room a-glow if you need to pop in and out for snacks or drinks during the night, saving switching the electric light on and off a dozen times a day. A burning candle will also remove cigarette smoke if you tend to smoke while reading the paper or chatting to neighbours around the kitchen table too.
The living room is the ideal room for burning candles. There are so many types of candles and they are all suitable for use in the living room. Wall sconces can be a beautiful way of burning candles in your hall and living room. In fact, candles do not even have to be lit to lend an atmosphere to your living room. Aromatic candles are perfect for moulding the ambiance to what you want.
You could put a candelabrum on a table or candlesticks on a fireplace or large tubular candles in the hearth. Smaller vase or jar candles will fit anywhere to create the ambiance you desire.
In the dining room or at least at the dining table, candles are indispensable whether you want to create a romantic atmosphere or not. The only no-no here is aromatic candles as you do not want to interfere with the smells of the meal. Long tapering white or red odourless candles in either candlesticks or a candelabrum are best.
